Abstract
The basics of historical landscape science as a branch of landscape doctrine devoted to the study of landscape development in the historical period were laid by L. S. Berg in the first half of XX century. Interest to the history of landscapes has increased significantly over the past two decades, but the professional level of most of the publications is low. The article examines the current state of the historic landscape science, defines its conceptual positions and draws attention to the potential of integration of this scientific field as a basis not only for the development of general geographic approach to the study of interaction between society and the environment, but also for an interdisciplinary historico-geographical synthesis. As a specific form of the latter the historical geography of civilization is considered.

Abstract
A statistical analysis of the ensemble of spatiotemporal fields of sea level from satellite altimetry measurements in the North Pacific Ocean (0°N-65°N, 110°E-105°W) has been performed to the discreteness of 7 days from 1992 to 2010. The estimation of the value fluctuations of sea level is given in the range of synoptic, seasonal and interannual variability.

Abstract
The mesoscale meridional sectorality is common for the regions where the modules and vectors of climatic, soil and vegetation latitudinal gradients change sharply along meridional lines. The presence of these lines is determined by a number of positional and evolutionary factors: the longitudinal orientation of landforms, the region's position between the centers of climate formation and plants dissemination, etc. Depending on the significance of these factors and the nature of their integration the distinctiveness of meridional sectorality and its pattern would be different. For the area of Ukraine, where these factors are significant, ten meridional landscape sectors were identified and mapped. Their scheme and characteristics were used to clarify the area of broadleaved forests zone and the subzonal division of forest-steppe zone.
