Features of natural geosystems formation within islands are analyzed. It is established that specific factors of physical-geographical differentiation (island's area, isolation, time of development, etc.) cause the appearance of new landscape features, which differ from that of continental ones. A number of empirically found regularities of island landscape science is proposed. It is shown that specificity of island nature is necessary for consideration in island nature management, particularly when forming a regional system of specially protected natural areas.

Tendencies of air quality in Russian cities have been analyzed. It is noted that in 1999-2003 the economic advance was accompanied by increase of polluted cities number and its air pollution level, while later growth of emission slowed down and the number of polluted cities decreased. The improvement of air quality took place mainly in regional centers and other large cities in the European part of Russia.
Influences of the emission volumes and complex of nature factors that determine the air pollution potential, on urban air pollution, has been considered. A number of relations is educed, including the comparability of natural and technogenic influence and the difference of stationary and mobile soueces in emission influence.
