N. I. Vavilov's theory of plants' geographic focuses of origin has been obviously underestimated so far. Meanwhile, even the first attempt to examine this theory from the position of modern landscape science has let, on the one hand, find the important link in perception of geographic connections between the society and geographic environment, and on the other hand, understand the regular connections between plants' geographic focuses of origin and landscapes more profound, specify and essentially specialize the world system of such focuses, developed by N.I. Vavilov and his followers. On the basis of origin and distribution analysis of more than 400 species of cultivated plants by the landscape macro-regions the 28 main geographic points defined by specific phytocultural potential and complex of species inserted in a culture, have been found.

The ground of necessity and expediency of making general economic maps of the state's megaregions (major economic regions, federal districts) is given. Principles and methodic approaches to compiling such maps on the basis of synthetic (typological) mapping are exposed by the example of the general economic map of Far Eastern federal district.
